About the Head of People Position 
 
Study.com is looking for a talented leader for our Human Resources function. 

Reporting to the CEO, the Head of People will play a strong leadership role supporting business needs and fostering employee engagement. Evolving our people related strategies, processes, and practices and driving flawless execution across all of HR is critical to success. 
 
Like many of our leaders, we are looking for a player/coach - someone both skilled and excited about providing hands-on value and expertise, as well as managing a team. 
 
Responsibilities 

  • Proactively collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and implement people strategies which support business success; establish quarterly goals and success metrics  

  • Provide HR business partner support to senior management across the organization 

  • Ensure ongoing assessment, enhancement, and alignment of all HR processes, policies, and practices 

  • Attract, hire, and retain top-quality employees -- with an emphasis on high performance and furthering our aspirational culture 

  • Foster a diverse and inclusive workplace which enables all employees to be exceptional and maximize their contribution 

  • Identify and prioritize areas for tactical improvement in HR processes and technologies and work hands-on with team to ensure consistent, stellar implementation  

  • Be a role model for leadership and management excellence;  develop HR team to ensure ongoing high performance 

  • Plan and implement hands-on HR deliverables in one or more of following areas: Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Diversity & Inclusion, Rewards & Recognition, Benefits, Compensation, Employee Relations, HR Legal and Compliance, HR Systems & Reporting, Social Impact & Community Service, Office & Facilities Management
  • Work independently and partner with others in the People team on ad-hoc HR projects as needed 

  • Collaborate with finance team to anticipate and forecast people related investments and expenses; monitor and analyze trends and variances on an ongoing basis; develop corrective actions as needed 

  • Collaborate with interim CHRO on all aspects of HR leadership and implementation 

Preferred Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree or Equivalent Experience 
  • Minimum 10 years broad-based human resources experience; with at least 4 years in small to medium sized companies 
  • Minimum 4 years of people management experience      
  • Strong background and expertise as an HR generalist while also having in-depth  knowledge and expertise in multiple HR specialties above 
  • Excellent people management and communication skills 
  • Track record of rolling-up sleeves and getting things done 
  • Critical thinker with strong analytical skills 
  • Excellent judgment and ability to build trust at all organizational levels 
  • Collaborative problem-solver 
  • SPHR/SHRM-SCP certification a plus
  • Experience with technology industry and/or Agile development environment a plus
